GTA 6 releases on Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced the exact unlock time or preload window yet. Below you’ll find what is confirmed, what each time zone looks like under the two launch models Rockstar is most likely to use, and what to watch for next.
What Rockstar has confirmed so far
Every fact in this section comes from Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Both are official sources, and nothing here relies on leaks or insiders.

The November date is the third target the game has had. Each move came from Rockstar directly, so treat November 19 as the official date until Rockstar says otherwise.
GTA 6 release time in every time zone
There is no official hour yet. You can still plan around the two models big console launches almost always use. The first is midnight local time, where each region unlocks at 12:00 a.m. on November 19 in its own time zone. The second is a single global unlock, where everyone gets the game at the same moment.
If GTA 6 unlocks at midnight local time
Many digital console launches use midnight local, although Red Dead Redemption 2’s PS4 version in 2018 unlocked at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time instead, letting West Coast players start at 9 p.m. PDT on October 25. Under this model your clock is the only one that matters. Players further east get the game first.
| Region | Local unlock | Same moment in Pacific Time |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney, Melbourne (AEDT) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 5:00 a.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| Brisbane (AEST) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 6:00 a.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| Tokyo (JST) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 7:00 a.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| Paris, Berlin, Madrid (CET) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 3:00 p.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| London (GMT) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 4:00 p.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| New York (ET) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 9:00 p.m. PT, Nov 18 |
| Los Angeles (PT) | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 12:00 a.m. PT, Nov 19 |
The gap is large. Under this model a player in Sydney would be in Leonida 19 hours before a player in Los Angeles. New Zealand (NZDT, UTC+13) would reach midnight two hours before Sydney, which makes it the first major market to unlock.
If GTA 6 unlocks at one global time
Some publishers pick a single worldwide moment so that nobody gets a head start. Rockstar hasn’t said it will do this. The table below is a conversion reference only, using midnight Eastern as the example hour. It is not an announced time. If Rockstar picks a different hour, shift every column by the same amount.
| PT | ET | UK (GMT) | CET | JST | AEST | AEDT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9:00 p.m., Nov 18 | 12:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 5:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 6:00 a.m., Nov 19 | 2:00 p.m., Nov 19 | 3:00 p.m., Nov 19 | 4:00 p.m., Nov 19 |
Recent launches show how much publishers differ here. Our pages on the Battlefield 6 release time and the Ghost of Yotei release time cover two big 2025 releases that went in different directions.
Good to know
November is a daylight saving trap. The UK is back on GMT (UTC+0) after October 25, 2026, not BST. Sydney and Melbourne are on AEDT (UTC+11), while Brisbane stays on AEST (UTC+10). Countdown sites that use summer offsets will be an hour off.
Time zone offsets on November 19, 2026
If Rockstar announces a time in one zone, you can use these offsets to convert it yourself. They apply to the release date specifically, after the clock changes in the US, UK and Europe.
| Zone | Abbreviation on Nov 19 | Offset from UTC | Clocks changed on |
|---|---|---|---|
| US Pacific | PST | UTC−8 | Nov 1, 2026 |
| US Eastern | EST | UTC−5 | Nov 1, 2026 |
| United Kingdom | GMT | UTC+0 | Oct 25, 2026 |
| Central Europe | CET | UTC+1 | Oct 25, 2026 |
| Japan | JST | UTC+9 | No daylight saving |
| Queensland | AEST | UTC+10 | No daylight saving |
| New South Wales, Victoria | AEDT | UTC+11 | Oct 4, 2026 |
Preload: what to expect
Rockstar has not announced a preload date for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. File size is also unannounced, so you can’t plan storage around an exact figure yet.
Precedent is the best guide you have. Red Dead Redemption 2 opened pre-loads on October 19, 2018, one week before its October 26 launch. A similar window for GTA 6 would land around November 12, 2026. That is a pattern, not a promise. Wait for Rockstar or the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store listings to confirm it.
Preloading normally requires a digital pre-order. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed pre-order dates, editions or pricing as of our last check. If you see a pre-order date on another site, make sure it traces back to Rockstar’s own Newswire, its official social accounts or a live store page.
How to be ready at unlock
- Pre-order digitally once Rockstar opens orders.
- Turn on automatic downloads for your console.
- PS5: enable Stay Connected to the Internet in Rest Mode settings.
- Xbox: set Power options to Sleep, not Shutdown.
- Check your console’s time zone matches your location.
- Leave the console in rest or sleep mode overnight before launch.
How the release date got here
GTA 6 has been delayed twice since its first trailer. Both delays were announced officially and gave fresh dates. Neither one turned out to be a vague “later” window.
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| December 5, 2023 | Trailer 1 released, 2025 window announced | Rockstar Games |
| May 2, 2025 | Release moved to May 26, 2026 | Rockstar Games |
| May 6, 2025 | Trailer 2 released, introducing Jason and Lucia in more depth | Rockstar Games |
| November 6, 2025 | Release moved to November 19, 2026 | Rockstar Games, Take-Two |
The second delay arrived alongside Take-Two’s quarterly earnings. Rockstar said it needed the extra months to finish the game to its standard. The announcement didn’t change the platform list, and it didn’t say anything about unlock times.
What a Rockstar launch usually looks like
Rockstar launches its big games on console first. A PC version arrives much later. That history matters if you’re waiting to play on PC, because there’s no official word on a PC version of GTA 6.
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 17, 2013 (PS3, Xbox 360) | April 14, 2015 | About 19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 26, 2018 (PS4, Xbox One) | November 5, 2019 | About 12 months |
| Grand Theft Auto VI | November 19, 2026 (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) | Not announced | Not announced |
Both earlier games launched on a single day across all console platforms. Nothing official suggests GTA 6 will split its PS5 and Xbox dates, so you should expect both versions on November 19.
Unofficial release times: how to judge them
The GTA 6 countdown sites, social posts and videos that list a precise hour are unofficial unless they quote Rockstar. Here is how to grade what you find.
- Official: Rockstar Newswire, Rockstar’s verified social accounts, Take-Two investor materials and live PlayStation or Xbox store pages. These are the only sources that can confirm an unlock time.
- Proven reporters: Established outlets with a record on Rockstar news. These are reliable for reporting what Rockstar said, but an outlet can’t announce a time Rockstar hasn’t.
- Store metadata and dataminers: Store backends sometimes show a placeholder time before the official reveal. Placeholders can change and often default to midnight.
- Anonymous accounts: Treat any specific hour from an unverified account as unconfirmed, no matter how confident it sounds.
What happens next
Several launch details are still to come. Each one will narrow down the release time.
- Pre-order announcement. This usually brings store pages, editions and pricing.
- Store listings go live. PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store pages often reveal preload dates and, sometimes, unlock behaviour.
- Age ratings. ESRB and PEGI ratings typically appear in the months before launch. The game hasn’t been rated yet.
- Preload opens. This is when file size for each console becomes confirmed.
- Launch trailer and release-time post. For its biggest games, Rockstar has published a launch-week post covering timing.
We’ll update the time zone tables as soon as Rockstar confirms an unlock hour. If you’re tracking other big launches this season, the same approach applies to our pages on the MW4 release time and the Crimson Desert release time.
FAQ
What time does GTA 6 come out?
Rockstar hasn’t announced an exact time. The confirmed date is November 19, 2026. If it follows Red Dead Redemption 2’s PS4 digital launch, it would unlock at 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time, which is 9:00 p.m. Pacific on November 18.
Which country gets GTA 6 first?
Under a midnight local launch, New Zealand reaches November 19 first, followed by eastern Australia and then Japan. Under a single global unlock, every region gets it at the same moment. Rockstar hasn’t said which model it will use.
When can you preload GTA 6?
The preload date is not confirmed. Red Dead Redemption 2 allowed pre-loads one week early, which would point to around November 12, 2026 for GTA 6. Wait for an official confirmation.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC on November 19?
No PC version has been announced. The confirmed launch platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s last two big games reached PC 12 to 19 months after their console launch.
Will PS5 and Xbox get GTA 6 at the same time?
Both are confirmed for November 19, 2026. Rockstar hasn’t announced different unlock times for each platform. Its previous major launches arrived on all consoles on the same day.
Could GTA 6 be delayed again?
Rockstar and Take-Two currently list November 19, 2026 as the release date. There is no official indication of another change. Any delay would be announced through Rockstar’s own channels, and we’ll update this page if it happens.
