No, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is not cross platform, because it has only been announced for one platform: PC (Windows), with a listed release date of December 3, 2026. No PlayStation or Xbox version has been confirmed, so crossplay and cross-progression between PC and consoles are not announced, and we will update this page when the publisher shares more.

Platform and crossplay status at a glance
The table below separates what developer KING Art Games and publisher Deep Silver have confirmed from what has not been addressed in official channels. We treat the official store listing and announcement material as the only reliable sources. Anything outside those is labelled as not confirmed.
| Platform | Announced | Release date | Crossplay with PC | Cross-progression |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PC (Windows) | Yes | December 3, 2026 | Not applicable | Not applicable |

What the publisher has confirmed
Dawn of War IV was revealed as a PC strategy game. KING Art Games is developing it and Deep Silver is publishing, and the official cinematic announcement trailer and the store listing name Windows as the only platform. The game returns to the base-building, squad-focused real-time strategy style the series is known for. Its campaigns and its multiplayer cover four factions: Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus.
Multiplayer is part of the confirmed feature set. The developer’s faction showcase videos and the publisher’s news posts present the four armies fighting each other in competitive matches. None of the official material we reviewed mentions crossplay, cross-progression, console matchmaking or a console release window. With only one platform announced, that gap is expected rather than suspicious. There is no second platform for the game to connect to.
What “not cross platform” means in practice
Every player at launch will be on Windows PC. In practice the whole multiplayer population sits in one pool, and the usual crossplay questions do not apply: aim assist, input-based matchmaking and console friend lists are all moot. If you play on a laptop and a desktop, your experience depends on the PC storefront’s own cloud save system. Cross-platform progression does not come into it. If you want a primer on how these systems normally work across PlayStation, Xbox and PC, our guide to cross-platform gaming explains the terms we use on this page.
Will Dawn of War IV come to PS5 or Xbox?

Nothing official points to a console version yet. We cannot confirm one, and we will not estimate a date. Two pieces of verified history are worth knowing, though, because they show what has happened before.
The first is the series itself. The original Dawn of War (2004), Dawn of War II (2009) and Dawn of War III (2017) all launched on PC. The later games received Mac and Linux ports, but none of them came to PlayStation or Xbox. A console version of Dawn of War IV would be a first for the franchise.
The second is the studio. KING Art Games’ previous RTS, Iron Harvest, launched on PC in 2020 and later arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as a Complete Edition. That shows the team has shipped a mouse-and-keyboard strategy game on controller-based hardware before. It does not tell us anything about Dawn of War IV’s plans, and the publisher has not linked the two.
The wider strategy genre has shifted toward consoles too. Age of Empires IV moved from PC to Xbox and later to PlayStation, with crossplay added as it went. These are precedents, not signals. Until Deep Silver or KING Art Games announces console platforms, the accurate answer stays “PC only.”
Good to know
If you mainly play on console and want to follow Dawn of War IV, wishlist or follow the official channels instead of pre-ordering on PC. Any console announcement would come from the publisher first, and we will add it to the table above the same day.
Crossplay between PC storefronts
Even a PC-only game can split its player base if it sells on several launchers. For Dawn of War IV, the confirmed store presence is Steam. Deep Silver has not said whether other PC storefronts will carry the game at launch. It also has not said whether copies bought elsewhere would share matchmaking with Steam players.
If a second PC store is added, we will check whether the developer confirms shared lobbies and shared progress. That question matters more for this game at launch than PlayStation or Xbox crossplay does.
How we will update this page

This is a launch-set answer for an upcoming game, so we recheck it as official details land. We watch four things in particular:
- Platform announcements: any new platform named by Deep Silver or KING Art Games on the official site, social channels or store pages.
- Store listings: new PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store pages, which usually appear before a console release date is fixed.
- Multiplayer details: the official FAQ and patch notes, for mentions of crossplay toggles, account linking or cross-save.
- Release date changes: the December 3, 2026 PC date, in case the publisher moves it.
When any of these change, we update the Quick answer box and the platform table first, then the context below them. Readers checking other upcoming releases can compare our GTA 6 cross platform and MW4 crossplay pages, which follow the same confirmed-versus-unannounced approach.
