Last checked:
As of our last check, we could not verify final minimum and recommended PC specs for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, so we list them as not confirmed. The game is a Windows PC strategy release from developer King Art Games and publisher Deep Silver. We will fill in the table below as soon as official specs land.
Dawn of War IV system requirements (current status)
These are the details we have confirmed. Wherever a value says “not confirmed”, we have no publisher-confirmed figure, and we are not going to estimate one.
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows (version not confirmed) | Windows (version not confirmed) |
| Processor | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Memory (RAM) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Graphics | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| DirectX | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Storage | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| SSD required | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
Spec sheets on store pages can change before release, and they often change again after launch. Pre-release listings tend to get updated once the developers finish optimisation passes, and day-one patches can raise the install size. When numbers appear, we will add the date they apply to.
Storage and install size
There is no confirmed install size yet. We will add download size and the space needed after installation once Deep Silver or the Steam listing gives a figure.
Good to know
Modern RTS games stream large maps and many unit models at once. Before launch, it makes sense to plan for an SSD with plenty of free space, even though no minimum has been published.
Steam Deck status

Valve has not given Dawn of War IV a Steam Deck compatibility rating (“Verified”, “Playable”, “Unsupported” or “Unknown”). Valve normally assigns ratings near release or after it, so this can stay blank until late in the cycle. Mouse-heavy strategy games also need extra work on controller layouts before they can earn a Verified badge. We will update this section when Valve’s rating appears.

How to check your PC before specs drop

You can collect your own numbers now. That way you can compare them in seconds once the official table is published.
How to check your PC specs
- Press Windows + R, type dxdiag, press Enter.
- Note Processor, Memory and Windows version.
- Open the Display tab for your GPU.
- Check free space in File Explorer.
We suggest using the same quick check for other upcoming releases we track. Our pages on Borderlands 4 PC system requirements, Phantom Blade Zero specs and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 system requirements follow the same format, so your saved numbers work across all of them.
Why RTS specs read differently
Strategy games put a different kind of load on a PC than shooters do. In large battles with lots of units on screen, the processor handles pathfinding, AI decisions and simulation, so a mid-range CPU can become the bottleneck before the graphics card does. When the Dawn of War IV specs arrive, look closely at the CPU line and the RAM figure, and not only at the GPU.
Gameplay, factions and plot

Deep Silver presents Dawn of War IV as a return to the classic base-building style of the series, with a story campaign and multiplayer. Four factions were shown at the reveal:
- Space Marines
- Orks
- Necrons
- Adeptus Mechanicus
The announcement places the story on Kronus, the planet fought over in the Dark Crusade expansion for the original game. Further plot details beyond the reveal material are not confirmed.
Development
King Art Games is a German studio best known for the real-time strategy game Iron Harvest. Deep Silver is publishing. Relic Entertainment made the earlier Dawn of War games and is not developing this one, which is why many longtime fans are watching the spec sheet and the gameplay direction closely.
Supported languages
We have not confirmed the final supported language list or which languages get full audio. English support is safe to expect from a Deep Silver release, but we have not checked the full list yet. We will add a language table once the store listing is final.
FAQ
Is Warhammer 40,000 on Steam?
Yes. Many Warhammer 40,000 games are sold on Steam, including the earlier Dawn of War titles. Dawn of War IV has a Steam store page where you can wishlist it ahead of release.
Is Warhammer Dawn of War 2 good?
We don’t review games. On the facts: Dawn of War II was developed by Relic, published by THQ, and released in 2009. Critics received it well at launch, and it moved the series toward squad-based tactics with less base building. Dawn of War IV goes back to base building.
What are the minimum system requirements to play God of War 4 on PC?
God of War (2018), which many players call God of War 4, came to PC in January 2022. Sony’s minimum listing is a 64-bit Windows 10 PC with an Intel i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 960 (4 GB) or R9 290X (4 GB), and 70 GB of storage.
Will Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 4 come to console?
Not confirmed. Dawn of War IV has been announced only for Windows PC, and Deep Silver has announced no PlayStation or Xbox version so far.
