Hela: of Mice & Magic screenshot
Last checked:
Crossplay for Hela: of Mice & Magic has not been confirmed. The game is announced for several platforms, but the studio has not said whether PC, PlayStation and Xbox players can join the same session. I’m tracking this page against official sources and will update it as launch details land.

Crossplay status by platform
The official Hela site presents the game as a co-op adventure across Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox and PC. It does not say that those versions can play together. Here is how each platform stands right now.
| Platform | Announced | Crossplay with other platforms | Cross-progression |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC (Windows) | Yes | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| PlayStation 5 | Yes | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Xbox Series X|S | Yes | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Yes | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
All status data in this table applies as of January 2026.
What the studio has actually confirmed
Hela: of Mice & Magic comes from Windup Games, a Copenhagen studio. The game was first shown simply as Hela, and the team later added the “of Mice & Magic” subtitle.
Official materials confirm these points:
- It’s a co-op game. Every official description puts playing together with friends at the centre of the pitch.
- It’s coming to multiple platforms. The official site names Switch 2, PS5, Xbox and PC. A PlayStation Store listing for PS5 has also appeared.
- Online play is part of the design. The marketing focuses on adventuring with friends rather than solo play only.
The official materials do not mention crossplay, cross-platform parties or shared progress. I found nothing on accounts either. The studio hasn’t said whether you’ll need a studio account or will rely only on Steam, PSN, Xbox and Nintendo friend lists.
What is still not announced

These are the gaps I’m watching. None of them should be filled with guesses.
- Crossplay between consoles and PC. Nothing official says PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC players will share lobbies.
- Cross-progression. There’s no word on whether a save made on PC carries over to a console version.
- Release dates. These are settled: 1 December 2026 is the confirmed release date for all versions at once, covering PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The open questions are about features, not timing.
- Player count and local co-op details. I’m not listing a number here until it’s confirmed on a store page or in an official FAQ.
Good to know
Store pages usually update before press releases do. On Steam, check the “Cross-Platform Multiplayer” tag in the features list. On the PlayStation and Xbox stores, look in the game info section for wording about online play across platforms.
Why crossplay matters more than usual here
Hela is built around playing with friends. That makes crossplay more important for this game than for a typical single-player release. If your group is split between a Switch 2 and a gaming PC, crossplay decides whether you can play together at all.
Other small co-op games show how this can go. Stardew Valley’s cross platform support is limited, and console players can’t join PC farms. Arc Raiders took the opposite route and launched with crossplay across PC, PS5 and Xbox. Bigger live-service games set the expectation too. Crossplay on Fortnite is so standard now that many players assume every new co-op game will offer it.
Smaller studios often add crossplay after launch, once the base game is stable. So a lack of an announcement now doesn’t rule it out. It just means nobody should buy a copy on a second platform expecting to join friends until the studio says so.
If you’re unsure how lobbies, friend codes and platform accounts fit together, it helps to understand how cross-platform gaming works in general. Most cross-platform games follow the same pattern.
How I’ll confirm it when the news lands

I treat sources in this order, from most to least reliable:
- Official: Windup Games announcements, the official Hela site and FAQ, and the platform store listings.
- Proven reporting: Hands-on previews from established outlets that quote the developers directly.
- Community observations: Playtest or demo reports from players. These are useful hints, but I won’t mark anything as confirmed based on them alone.
The official site also runs a Discord community, a creator programme and a newsletter (the “Cheesin’ Newsletter”). Those channels are often where a studio this size shares news first, so I check them alongside the store pages.
I’m also preparing a separate page on Hela: of Mice & Magic size for each platform, which I’ll fill in once preload data is public.
