The exact release time for Hela: of Mice & Magic has not been announced. The PC (Windows) version is listed for 1 December 2026. Neither Windup Games nor Knights Peak has published an unlock hour, preload window or price.
Hela: of Mice & Magic release time by region
This is the table that matters on launch week. Every cell says “Not confirmed” because no official source has given an hour. We will replace each cell once Knights Peak or the Steam store page shows a time. We will not fill the table in early with a guessed slot.
| Region | Time zone (1 Dec 2026) | Release time | Preload |
|---|---|---|---|
| US West | PT (PST, UTC−8) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| US East | ET (EST, UTC−5) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| United Kingdom | UK (GMT, UTC+0) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Central Europe | CET (UTC+1) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Japan | JST (UTC+9) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Australia (Brisbane) | AEST (UTC+10) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
| Australia (Sydney, Melbourne) | AEDT (UTC+11) | Not confirmed | Not confirmed |
There are two Australian rows on purpose. Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra will be on daylight saving time (AEDT) on 1 December. Queensland does not use daylight saving, so Brisbane stays on AEST. That gives eastern Australia a one-hour split at launch. Many release-time pages miss it.
What is confirmed about the launch, and what isn’t
The game is real, it has a public store presence on PC, and it has a team behind it. Most of the launch-day details you would plan around are still blank.
| Detail | Status | Source type |

All of this is first-party or store-listed information. Fan wikis, aggregator “release countdown” sites and social reposts sometimes show a specific hour. Treat those as community guesses unless they cite the publisher or a Steam countdown.
Will Hela launch at the same moment everywhere?
That is likely but not confirmed. PC releases on Steam usually go live at one global moment. The store page switches from “Coming soon” to purchasable for everyone at the same instant, and only the local clock reading changes. Regional staggered releases, where each country unlocks at local midnight, are common on consoles. They are rare for a Steam-first launch.
Read the table above that way once times appear. A 10:00 PT unlock and a 03:00 JST unlock the next day are the same second in the real world. If you and a co-op partner are in different countries, you will both get access at once.
Hela is built around playing with friends, so that matters more here than for a single-player release. You can line up a launch session with someone in Europe or Australia knowing neither of you will be waiting on the other’s region.
How to convert the launch time once it’s announced
December is one of the easiest months to do time-zone maths, apart from Australia. By 1 December, the US has left daylight saving (since early November), and so have the UK and the EU (since late October). Japan never changes its clocks. That leaves these fixed gaps on launch day:
- PT to ET: +3 hours
- PT to UK: +8 hours
- UK to CET: +1 hour
- UK to JST: +9 hours
- UK to AEST (Brisbane): +10 hours
- UK to AEDT (Sydney): +11 hours
Conversion reference for common Steam launch slots
The table below is a conversion aid, not a prediction. It shows how three common PC launch slots would read in each region on 1 December 2026. Knights Peak has not said Hela will use any of these hours.
| If the unlock is… | PT | ET | UK | CET | JST | AEST | AEDT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 08:00 PT | 08:00, 1 Dec | 11:00, 1 Dec | 16:00, 1 Dec | 17:00, 1 Dec | 01:00, 2 Dec | 02:00, 2 Dec | 03:00, 2 Dec |
| 09:00 PT | 09:00, 1 Dec | 12:00, 1 Dec | 17:00, 1 Dec | 18:00, 1 Dec | 02:00, 2 Dec | 03:00, 2 Dec | 04:00, 2 Dec |
| 10:00 PT | 10:00, 1 Dec | 13:00, 1 Dec | 18:00, 1 Dec | 19:00, 1 Dec | 03:00, 2 Dec | 04:00, 2 Dec | 05:00, 2 Dec |
The pattern is consistent. With any daytime unlock in the Americas, players in Japan and Australia get the game in the early hours of 2 December local time. If Knights Peak instead chooses a slot tuned to its home market in Europe, the Asia-Pacific times will move earlier. That is why we leave the main table blank for now.
If you follow several December launches, the same winter offsets apply to other games. Our Emberville release time breakdown uses the same daylight-saving notes for the US, Europe and Australia.
Preload: what to expect on PC
Preloading has not been announced for Hela: of Mice & Magic.
On Steam, preloading depends on pre-purchase. A game you have only wishlisted cannot be downloaded early. The publisher has to open pre-purchases and then switch on a preload window, which usually runs for a few days before launch. If Knights Peak does neither, the download begins at the unlock moment for everyone.
Practically, here is what that means for you:
- If pre-purchase opens: check your Steam library in the final days of November. A preload would appear as a normal install button, with the game locked until release.
- If there is no pre-purchase: plan to download at launch. The file size isn’t confirmed, so you can’t yet estimate download time. Clear some storage space in advance.
A preload does not unlock the game early. The files sit encrypted or locked until the global release moment, and then Steam may push a small day-one patch.
How to get notified the moment Hela unlocks
- Open the Hela: of Mice & Magic page on the Steam store.
- Select “Add to your wishlist”.
- In Steam’s account settings, under notifications, keep email alerts for wishlist releases switched on.
- Follow the game on Steam so news posts reach your activity feed.
- Check the store page again in late November for a pre-purchase or countdown.
Platforms: PC and consoles on the same day
The 1 December 2026 date applies to PC (Windows) and to consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. All four platforms share the same confirmed release date.
Questions about PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions come up often. No console unlock time has been announced yet. Expect the console versions to follow the usual console pattern. That could include local-midnight unlocks in some regions and pre-download on the PlayStation and Xbox stores. That detail will need its own table when it is announced.
A physical edition has not been confirmed either. Boxed releases for smaller co-op games tend to appear after the digital launch, if at all, and often through specialist partners. Until Knights Peak says otherwise, assume Hela is a digital download on Steam.
Steam Deck compatibility is also unannounced. Valve rates games for Deck around launch, so the verified or playable badge may not appear until close to 1 December.
About the game
Hela: of Mice & Magic is an adventure game from Windup Games, with Knights Peak as publisher. The store pages and official social channels describe it as a wholesome adventure built for solo play and online co-op.
Story and setting
You play as a small mouse with a big job. The setup centres on a kind witch named Hela. Her magic, passed to her tiny companion, is how you get through a world scaled up around you. Ordinary household and outdoor spaces turn into large levels when you are only a few centimetres tall.
The setting draws on a Nordic, Scandinavian-flavoured countryside of meadows, forests, timber homes and quiet villages. Seen at mouse height, a garden fence is a cliff and a puddle is a lake. The game’s tone is gentle and enchanting rather than combat-heavy.
Core mechanics
From what has been shown so far, the gameplay loop combines three things:
- Traversal at small scale. You climb, jump and find routes across terrain built for creatures many times your size.
- Physics-driven puzzles. Objects in the world can be pushed, stacked and moved. Many obstacles are solved by working out how the environment reacts, not with a scripted key.
- Magic abilities. The witch’s magic gives the mouse tools to manipulate objects and reach places it couldn’t otherwise.
Combat is not the focus. Footage released so far emphasises helping, exploring and solving problems, which fits the wholesome-adventure label the developers use.
Game modes: solo and co-op
Hela supports single-player and online co-op. The official store copy describes playing alone or with friends, with each player controlling their own mouse. Co-op is designed into the puzzles, so with more players you can split up tasks, such as one mouse holding something in place while another climbs.
Local split-screen and crossplay between future console versions and PC have not been confirmed. The confirmed co-op setup is online play on PC.
Visual style and atmosphere
The look is soft, warm and hand-crafted. It uses detailed miniature environments, natural lighting and a cosy colour palette suited to a December release. The mouse characters are expressive rather than realistic, and the world shifts between bright outdoor areas and quieter, lamp-lit interiors.
Sound design and music get regular mentions in the official materials, and the soundtrack is composed by Frida Johansson and Henrik Oja.
Trailer and screenshots
The official trailers are hosted on the Hela Steam store page and on the publisher’s and developer’s channels. The game also has official social accounts that post clips and development updates. The handles in current search results include @helagame and @helathegame.
What the trailers show matches the description above:
- A small mouse running and climbing across oversized environments
- Several mice working together on physics puzzles
- Magical effects used to move objects and open paths
- Nordic-style outdoor scenery and cosy interiors
The trailers so far are announcement and gameplay pieces. No launch trailer is out yet. Publishers often release one in launch week, frequently timed close to the unlock, so a new video in late November or on 1 December is a good sign that the store page is about to update.
Awards and showcase appearances
Hela has appeared in industry showcases, and the official channels refer to positive reception from previews. We have not been able to independently verify a list of named awards with dates. To avoid repeating unverified claims, we are leaving specific award names off this page. We will add them once they can be checked against the awarding body’s own announcement.
Price and pre-orders
The price is not confirmed. No standard edition, deluxe edition or bundle pricing has been announced for any region, and Steam does not yet show a buy button.
When pricing appears, expect it on the Steam page first, in local currency for each region. Steam’s regional pricing means a launch price in US dollars does not convert directly to pounds, euros, yen or Australian dollars. Each region gets its own recommended price. We will add a per-region table when that happens.
If you are budgeting across several games, most Steam launches publish their price when pre-purchase opens. If Hela skips pre-purchase, the first price you see may arrive on 1 December itself.
Where to buy Hela: of Mice & Magic
The confirmed place to get Hela on PC is Steam. No other PC storefront has been announced for launch day. That rules out an Epic Games Store, GOG or Microsoft Store listing for now, and it means no PC Game Pass inclusion has been confirmed.
Key resellers may advertise “pre-order keys” before a price has been announced. Keys sold before the publisher has opened sales are unverified. If you want to be sure you can play at the unlock moment, buy directly through Steam once the button appears.
Planning your launch session
Because the unlock time is unknown, some planning has to wait. There are still a few things you can do now.
Clear space before November ends. The download size isn’t confirmed. Small-scale adventure games on PC usually need far less space than open-world blockbusters, but don’t assume. Keep a comfortable buffer on the drive you use for Steam.
Check your system against the Steam page. The minimum and recommended specifications are listed on the store page and can change before release. Check them again in launch week, because requirements are often revised close to launch.
Coordinate co-op across time zones. Unlock will be global, so use the conversion table to find a slot that works for everyone. A late-morning PT launch is early evening in the UK and Central Europe but the middle of the night in Japan and eastern Australia. Groups that span continents often play the following day.
Watch for a day-one patch. Even with no preload, you may see a small update straight after the main download. Leave a few extra minutes for it.
Good to know
Check whether Brisbane or Sydney time applies to you. On 1 December 2026 the two cities are an hour apart, because Queensland skips daylight saving while New South Wales and Victoria use AEDT.
Other December-window launches
Late 2026 is crowded, and several of the games readers ask about use the same winter time offsets. Our pages on the GTA 6 release time and the Crimson Desert release time follow the same format as this one: per-region tables, “not confirmed” where publishers have been silent, and preload notes once storefronts confirm them. The time-zone mechanics are identical across those pages. The only thing that changes from game to game is the hour the publisher chooses.
How we will update this page
This page will change as Knights Peak and Windup Games release launch details. In order of likely arrival, we are watching for:
- A price and pre-purchase announcement on Steam
- A preload window, if pre-purchase opens
- An official unlock time, usually posted on social channels or as a Steam countdown in the final days
- Final system requirements and file size
- Any console announcement for PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch, with separate dates and times
Each table above will be updated as soon as a detail is published by an official source, and the “Last checked” line in the quick answer will move forward with it. If a fan site, a datamine or an anonymous account posts a time before then, we will report it only if it is clearly labelled with that source’s reliability. We will not put it in the main table.
