Battlefield 6 is an online-only first-person shooter from Battlefield Studios and Electronic Arts, released on October 10, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It has full crossplay across all three platforms, a short single-player campaign, an M/18 rating and a 55 to 80 GB install. All figures below are dated so you know which patch they describe.
How long to beat
The campaign is a linear nine-mission story that most players finish in a single weekend. Multiplayer is open-ended, so the figures here cover the campaign only. These are community averages, not fixed numbers, and difficulty setting swings them by an hour or more.
| Playstyle | Average time (campaign) |
|---|---|
| Main story | About 6 to 7 hours |
| Main story + extras (collectibles, all difficulties) | About 8 to 9 hours |
| Completionist (campaign achievements, hard difficulty) | About 10 to 12 hours |
Multiplayer progression is a different story. Reaching max career rank and unlocking every weapon attachment runs into the hundreds of hours, and seasonal Battle Pass content resets that clock every few months.
File size and storage
Steam lists two storage figures for PC, and the gap between them matters. The minimum spec reserves 55 GB; the recommended spec reserves 80 GB because EA pairs it with the higher-resolution texture package.
| Platform | Install size | Date |
|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam, EA app, Epic) | 55 GB minimum, 80 GB recommended | October 2026 |
| PS5 | Not individually confirmed by the store page; plan for 80 GB | October 2026 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Not individually confirmed by the store page; plan for 80 GB | October 2026 |
Season updates have added maps, so the installed footprint grows over time. We track the per-platform figures in detail on our page about how “many gb is battlefield 6“, including patch sizes as they land.
Good to know
On PC, an SSD is the practical requirement even though Steam does not say so. The game streams large open maps and the Portal mode loads custom assets at match start, both of which stutter on a mechanical drive.
PC system requirements

EA published minimum and recommended tiers, and both carry an unusual set of security prerequisites. Secure Boot must be enabled in UEFI, TPM 2.0 must be on, and the system has to be HVCI and VBS capable. These are enforced by the Javelin anti-cheat, not optional suggestions, and the game will refuse to launch without Secure Boot active.
| Spec | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-8400 / AMD Ryzen 5 2600 | Intel Core i7-10700 / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
| RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| GPU | Nvidia RTX 2060 / AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB / Intel Arc A380 | Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT / Intel Arc B580 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 55 GB | 80 GB |
| Network | Broadband | Broadband |
| Security | TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, HVCI, VBS capable | TPM 2.0, UEFI Secure Boot, HVCI, VBS capable |
The minimum tier targets 1080p at low settings around 30 fps. The recommended tier targets 1440p at high settings around 60 fps. EA also published an ultra tier above these, built around an Intel Core i9-12900K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4080 or RX 7900 XTX, aimed at 4K ultra settings at 60 fps or 1440p high settings at 144 fps.
Compared with other recent AAA titles, the GPU floor is moderate. An RTX 2060 also clears the “kcd 2 system requirements” minimum, so a mid-range card from 2019 still gets you through the door here. The CPU is the more common bottleneck in 64-player matches.
Steam Deck status: Not supported. Javelin anti-cheat runs only on Windows, and SteamOS cannot satisfy the Secure Boot and TPM checks. The game will not launch through Proton, and EA has not announced any plans to change this as of October 2026.
How to check Secure Boot on Windows
- Press Win + R, type msinfo32, press Enter.
- Find “Secure Boot State” in the list and confirm it reads On.
- If it reads Off or Unsupported, enable Secure Boot in your UEFI firmware settings (usually under the Boot or Security tab).
- Confirm “Virtualization-based security” shows as Running or Enabled in the same window.
Crossplay and cross-progression
Yes, Battlefield 6 has full crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Matchmaking pools all three platforms by default, and squads can mix platforms freely. An EA account is required on every platform and that account is what carries your progression.
| Feature | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Crossplay | Yes, all platforms | Can be disabled in settings |
| Console-only option | No | Disabling crossplay limits you to your own platform |
| Cross-progression | Yes | Tied to EA account |
| Cross-purchase | No | Buy once per platform family |
| Account linking | Required | EA account linked to PSN, Xbox or Steam/Epic |
The crossplay toggle is the detail most people look for. Controller players on PS5 or Xbox can turn crossplay off if they want to avoid mouse and keyboard opponents, but doing so also removes the other console from the pool, so you only match with players on your own platform. Expect longer queue times in some modes and regions with it off. If you are new to how “cross-platform gaming” handles things like friends lists across storefronts, the EA account is the common thread here: add friends by EA ID and the platform does not matter.
Multiplayer, co-op and offline

Battlefield 6 is built around online multiplayer, with a single-player campaign attached. There is no co-op mode of any kind, and no split-screen.
| Mode | Players | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign | 1 (solo) | Nine missions, linear |
| Conquest | Up to 64 | Large maps, flag capture |
| Breakthrough | Up to 64 | Sector push |
| Rush | Up to 48 | Objective-based attack and defend |
| Escalation | Up to 64 | Shrinking flag set, new for this entry |
| Squad Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill | 16 to 32 | Small-map modes |
| Portal | Varies | Custom rulesets and player-made experiences |
| Redsec (Battle Royale) | Up to 100 | Free-to-play, separate download, launched October 28, 2025 |
The game launched with nine multiplayer maps: Liberation Peak, Siege of Cairo, Manhattan Bridge, Iberian Offensive, Mirak Valley, Empire State, New Sobek City, Saints Quarter and Operation Firestorm. Season 1 added more starting with Blackwell Fields on October 28, 2025, with further maps arriving through the seasonal schedule.
Offline play is not advertised. Steam lists a broadband connection under both requirement tiers, and EA has not described an offline campaign mode, so we treat the whole game as online-required.
Age rating
| Board | Rating | Descriptors |
|---|---|---|
| ESRB (North America) | M (Mature 17+) | Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language |
| PEGI (Europe) | 18 | Violence, Bad Language |
Steam’s listing carries the matching required age of 17. The campaign includes depictions of civilian casualties and wartime injury that drove the rating; multiplayer violence is the standard shooter fare. For a comparison point, the “batman arkham knight rating” sits one tier lower on both boards despite similar language.

FAQ
What are the Battlefield 6 specs for 60 fps at 1440p?
EA’s recommended tier: Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, AMD RX 6700 XT or Intel Arc B580, Windows 11 and 80 GB of storage. Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 must be enabled.
Does Battlefield 6 run on Steam Deck?
No. The Javelin anti-cheat is Windows-only and requires Secure Boot, which SteamOS cannot provide. This has not changed as of October 2026.
Can PS5 and Xbox players turn off crossplay with PC?
Yes, but not selectively. Turning crossplay off in settings excludes PC players and also disables PS5-to-Xbox matchmaking, so you will only be matched with players on your own platform.
How many players are in a Battlefield 6 match?
Up to 64 in Conquest, Breakthrough and Escalation. Smaller modes run 16 to 32, and the free Redsec battle royale supports up to 100.
Is Battlefield 6 on Game Pass or PS Plus?
No. It is not included in either service as of October 2026. On PC, EA Play Pro includes the full game.
