These terms cover how you use Metadata Games, a small independent site that compiles facts about video games: release dates, platforms, system requirements, patch histories, pricing and similar details. By browsing the site you agree to what follows. If you don’t, the sensible move is to stop using it.
What this site is
Metadata Games is a reference. We gather information about games from publisher pages, store listings, patch notes, press materials and our own hands-on checks, then organise it into something easier to scan than a dozen scattered sources.
We are not a store, a publisher, or a developer. We don’t sell games, run a launcher, or handle refunds. If you’re after any of that, you’ll need the platform you bought the game from.
Facts are compiled, not guaranteed
Game data moves. A patch can change a game’s minimum spec, add a platform, remove a mode, or rewrite the credits. A publisher can shift a price overnight. Storefront regions can show different editions of the same title.
We try hard to keep entries current, but we cannot promise that every figure on every page matches the live state of a game at the moment you read it. Treat our pages as a strong starting point, then confirm details on the official page or store listing before you spend money or make a decision that depends on them.
If you spot something wrong, tell us. Corrections are how a site like this gets better.
No warranty that a game will run on your machine
Listed system requirements come from developers and publishers, and occasionally from our own testing. They describe a target, not a guarantee. Your drivers, operating system version, background software, thermal headroom, storage speed and a hundred other variables all affect whether a game actually launches and plays well.
We make no warranty, express or implied, that a game will install, run, or perform at any particular frame rate on your hardware. If a game you bought based on our listed specs doesn’t work, the refund policy that applies is the store’s, not ours.
Release dates and times can move
Release dates are among the most frequently changed facts in the industry. Delays happen weeks out and hours out. Regional launch times get staggered. Early access windows get extended. Preloads open late.
We list the most recent announced date and time we can find, and we try to flag when a date is “to be confirmed” rather than fixed. Still, a date on this site is a record of what was announced, not a promise about when a game will be available. Don’t book time off work on our say-so.
Game names, logos and images belong to their owners
Every game title, studio name, publisher name, logo, character, screenshot and piece of key art on this site is the property of its respective owner. We use these for identification and commentary only, which is how a reference site about games has to work. Nothing here implies that any studio, publisher or platform endorses Metadata Games or has any relationship with it.
If you are a rights holder and believe an image or asset is being used in a way you object to, contact us through the site and we will deal with it promptly.
The text we write ourselves, the way we structure and present data, and the site design are ours. You’re welcome to quote short excerpts with attribution. Please don’t scrape entire pages, republish our listings wholesale, or present our work as your own.
External store links
Pages on this site may point you to storefronts, publisher sites, patch note archives and other third-party pages. Those sites have their own terms, privacy policies, prices and regional restrictions, none of which we control.
A link from Metadata Games is not a recommendation to buy from that store over another, and it isn’t a guarantee that the linked page is accurate, available, or safe. Check the destination before you enter payment details anywhere.
If a store link is broken or points to the wrong edition, let us know and we’ll fix it.
Acceptable use
Use the site the way a normal reader would. Specifically, you agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site in a way that strains it or reproduces our listings elsewhere
- Attempt to access non-public parts of the site, bypass rate limits, or probe for vulnerabilities
- Submit false corrections, spam, or content designed to mislead other readers
- Use the site to harass anyone, including developers or other users
- Frame or mirror the site on another domain
- Use automated tools to post, vote, or submit on your behalf without permission
We can block access from any address or account that breaks these rules, without notice.
Submissions and corrections
If you send us a correction, tip, or other content, you’re giving us permission to use it, edit it, and publish it as part of the site. You confirm that you have the right to share whatever you send. We don’t owe credit or payment for submissions, though we often credit helpful contributors because it’s the decent thing to do.
Don’t send us leaked material, confidential documents, or anything you’re under NDA about. We won’t publish it and it puts both of us in an awkward position.
Availability and changes to the site
Metadata Games is a new, independent project. It may go offline for maintenance, change layout, add or remove features, or shut down sections without warning. We’re not liable for any loss caused by the site being unavailable or by a feature changing.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Metadata Games and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or relying on its content. That includes money spent on a game based on information here, hardware issues, missed release windows, and anything that happens on a third-party site you reached through a link from us.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law where you live.
Changes to these terms
We’ll update these terms when the site changes or when we need to make something clearer. When we make a meaningful change, we’ll note it on this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you don’t, stop using the site.
Contact
Questions about these terms, corrections to game data, or rights concerns can be sent through the contact details published elsewhere on this site. We’re a small operation and we read everything, even if replies take a little while.
